Family Friendly - Pittsburgh's Craft Beer Scene

By Riley Sciarappa
Pittsburgh’s got an awesome craft beer scene, and luckily, plenty of spots welcome families with open arms. Whether you’re looking for a chill outdoor space, good food, or even some fun activities for the little ones, these breweries have you covered.
Spoonwood Brewing Co. (Bethel Park)
This place is perfect for families! There’s tons of space, high chairs, a kids' menu, and even a family restroom with a changing table. Outside, there's a fenced-in area where kids can run around and play games while you enjoy a well-crafted beer and some delicious wood-fired pizza.
East End Brewing Co. (Larimer)
A Pittsburgh staple, East End has a roomy taproom and even makes its own non-alcoholic root beer and ginger ale for the kids. They regularly have food trucks outside and host family-friendly events, so it’s a great spot to bring the whole crew.
Grist House Craft Brewery (Millvale)
If you love a good outdoor beer garden, Grist House is the spot. It’s super kid-friendly (and dog-friendly too!), with plenty of picnic tables and space for the kids to wander while you sip on a refreshing brew. Bonus: there’s often live music and food trucks to keep everyone happy.
Penn Brewery (Troy Hill)
One of Pittsburgh’s OG breweries, Penn Brewery has a spacious dining area, a kids’ menu, and even a viewing window where kids can check out the brewing process. Plus, on Tuesdays, kids eat free—so that’s a win for parents!
Hitchhiker Brewing Co. (Mt. Lebanon & Sharpsburg)
A laid-back spot with free board games and plenty of outdoor seating. They even make their own root beer, so kids can have their own “brew” while you enjoy yours. Great for a relaxed family outing!
Pittsburgh definitely makes it easy to enjoy a great beer without having to leave the kids at home. Cheers!
